Congress Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, has called for the establishment of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into recent allegations surrounding the Adani Group. In a press conference held in Mumbai ahead of the upcoming I.N.D.I.A meeting, Gandhi referred to reports from reputable international newspapers concerning Adani’s activities.

Gandhi emphasized the significance of these publications, underscoring their impact on foreign investments in India and the nation’s global image. He highlighted that these reports suggest a substantial sum, exceeding one billion dollars, was routed from India, traversing various international channels before returning. He raised pertinent questions about the origin of this capital – whether it belongs to Adani or another entity.

The orchestrator behind this alleged financial maneuvering, as Gandhi pointed out, is Vinod Adani, the brother of Gautam Adani. Additionally, two other individuals, Nasir Ali Shaban Ahli and Chang Chung Ling, both foreign nationals, have been implicated in the process of circulating these funds.

Gandhi further questioned the rationale behind permitting these foreign individuals to manipulate the valuation of a conglomerate that holds significant sway over India’s infrastructural landscape.

Drawing attention to potential conflicts of interest, Gandhi highlighted that the individual who cleared the Adani Group in a SEBI investigation is now affiliated with a media company under the same corporate umbrella.

In light of an article from the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which alleges that substantial sums were invested in publicly traded stocks of the Adani Group via opaque Mauritius funds, Gandhi raised concerns over the potential concealment of business partners linked to the Adani family.

With the imminent arrival of G20 leaders, Gandhi underscored the urgency of clarifying the situation surrounding this “special company” associated with a person closely connected to the Prime Minister. He questioned the Prime Minister’s silence on the matter and urged the appropriate authorities to initiate investigations and hold responsible individuals accountable.

In conclusion, Gandhi stressed that the timing of these allegations, just prior to the G20 summit, necessitates a transparent resolution. He emphasized that clarifying these concerns before the arrival of global leaders is paramount to safeguarding India’s reputation on the international stage
