Congress Leader Shares Insights on Election Chances in MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana

In a recent statement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed optimism about his party’s chances in the upcoming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh (MP), Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, scheduled to take place later this year. During a media conclave, he provided insights into the party’s electoral prospects in these key states.

Rahul Gandhi confidently stated that the Congress party is poised to secure victory in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, asserting, “We are certainly winning Madhya Pradesh, and we are certainly winning Chhattisgarh.” He also expressed a positive outlook for Telangana, saying, “I would say, right now, we are probably winning Telangana.” Regarding Rajasthan, he acknowledged a tight contest, adding, “Rajasthan, we are very close, and we think we will be able to win. That is what it looks like. By the way, that is also what the BJP internally is saying.”

The Congress leader emphasized that it is inconceivable for the Congress party to not win any of these states in the upcoming Assembly elections. This sentiment aligns with what he suggested the BJP is also acknowledging internally.

Rahul Gandhi further discussed the evolving political landscape, highlighting that the Opposition is adapting and collaborating effectively. He suggested that the BJP should anticipate surprises in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, emphasizing, “We are adapting to a situation where the BJP controls the media. Don’t think the opposition is not capable of adapting, we are adapting, we are working together, we are 60 per cent of India’s population. BJP is in for a surprise in 2024 (Lok Sabha polls).”

In terms of campaign strategy, Rahul Gandhi pointed out that the Congress party has been successful in controlling the narrative in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the lead-up to the polls. He also acknowledged the positive sentiment towards the government in Rajasthan, attributing it to factors like anti-incumbency.

Regarding recent controversies, Rahul Gandhi commented on BJP’s diversionary tactics and expressed support for the demand for a caste census. He noted that the BJP resorts to such tactics to distract from important issues and emphasized that the Congress has learned how to handle such situations effectively.

Reflecting on past elections, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the importance of constructing a clear narrative and vision for the state, as demonstrated in Karnataka. He credited their success in Karnataka to this strategy, which allowed them to control the narrative and engage effectively with voters. In the context of Telangana, he asserted that the Congress is currently steering the narrative while marginalizing the BJP’s influence in the state.

As the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram draw closer, the political landscape in these states remains dynamic, with both the Congress and BJP gearing up for a competitive electoral battle.
