
New Delhi : Prominent Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, expressed their strong condemnation of the bomb blast that occurred in Kerala, resulting in the tragic death of one individual and leaving 40 others injured. They emphasized the importance of a civilized society devoid of hatred and violence, calling for a thorough government investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
Rahul Gandhi conveyed his deep distress over the incident, stating, “The bomb blasts during a prayer meeting in Ernakulam, Kerala, are deeply distressing and condemnable.” The Member of Parliament for Wayanad extended his condolences to the grieving family and wished a swift recovery to the injured. He underlined that there is no place for hatred and violence in a civilized society and urged the government to conduct a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is served.
Priyanka Gandhi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the unfortunate nature of the blast during a prayer meeting. She asserted, “There can be no place for violence and bloodshed in a civilized society. The entire country is united against such cowardly acts.” She called on the government to take stringent action against those responsible.
K.C. Venugopal, Congress General Secretary (organisation), also strongly condemned the bomb blast, emphasizing the need for a swift and impartial investigation. He expressed concern about the conspiracy against Kerala’s tradition of unity in diversity and reassured that the state’s atmosphere would not be poisoned by such actions. Venugopal urged the people of Kerala to unite and defeat these “poisonous elements.”
The incident in question occurred at the Kalamassery Convention Centre in Kerala, where multiple bomb blasts resulted in one fatality and critical injuries to seven individuals. Kerala’s Director General of Police, Sheik Darvesh Saheb, confirmed that the incident was indeed a bomb blast, ruling out initial reports of an electrical short circuit.
