Hyderabad : Osmania University (OU) is gearing up for its 83rd convocation, scheduled for October 31, where approximately 1,325 scholars will be honored with PhD degrees. OU officials have revealed that 45 outstanding candidates will also be presented with a total of 57 prestigious gold medals during this grand event, taking place at the Tagore Auditorium at 2 pm on October 31.
Professor D. Ravinder, the Vice Chancellor of OU, announced that the university will confer an Honoris Causa on Shantanu Narayen, the Chief Executive Officer of Adobe Inc., who is not only a distinguished alumnus but also the 49th recipient of the university’s honorary doctorate. Notably, last year, OU bestowed an honorary doctorate upon former Chief Justice of India, Justice NV Ramana. Narayen will deliver the convocation address, alongside the participation of Telangana Governor and OU’s Chancellor, Tamilisai Soundararajan.
In a historical twist, this marks the third consecutive year that OU is hosting its convocation ceremony, signifying a rare occurrence in the university’s history. Only candidates who successfully passed their examinations between July 2021 and July 2022 are eligible to receive their well-earned Ph.D. degrees and coveted gold medals. Nevertheless, Ph.D. degrees earned from August 6, 2022, to October 10, 2023, will also be considered.
For those awaiting their moment of recognition, registered Ph.D. degree holders must acquire an entry pass/ID card by presenting their registration receipt from October 28 to 30, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, at the office of the Controller of Examinations, OU. Similarly, registered gold medalists can secure their entry pass/ID card by presenting their registration receipt on October 30, 2023, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, at the office of the Controller of Examinations, OU.
