Osmania University (OU) in Telangana takes a step towards providing high-quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students with the launch of its satellite television channel, Osmania TV.

As the first regular varsity in the country to have such a channel, the university aims to broadcast content created by its esteemed professors via the T-SAT network.

Initially, the channel will feature lessons in Geography, Sociology, and Psychology for undergraduate students, with 758 lessons already prepared.

Journalism content is currently in progress. The broadcast will take place from 8.30 am to 10.30 am, with a repeat telecast in the evening, and plans to include content from various UG and PG programs in the future.

The collaboration with Telangana Skills, Academy and Training (T-SAT) ensures a dedicated link for Osmania TV, a strategic move to overcome potential future lockdowns due to Covid-19 or similar situations.

The channel aims to enhance the learning experience by conducting live classroom recordings alongside studio-recorded lessons at the OU’s Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC).

Moreover, the university plans to upload the lessons on its new YouTube channel, Osmania TV, for those who miss the broadcasts.

In an effort to provide an interactive learning platform, Osmania TV intends to host sessions with university professors, industry experts, and debates on contemporary issues.

With this digital initiative, the university endeavors to reach a wider audience and ensure the dissemination of quality educational content to all.

The channel is set to go on-air from Monday, as OU Vice Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder stated, and will also broadcast important university events live.
