Tension escalated during a roadshow led by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao in Bhainsa town of Telangana’s Nirmal district on Thursday evening, as some individuals hurled onions and tomatoes toward him. The incident unfolded while Rama Rao was addressing a corner meeting, with saffron-clad protestors, purportedly followers of Hanuman Deeksha, displaying placards against the BRS leader and attempting to advance towards his vehicle, resulting in a tense atmosphere.

The protestors were reportedly aggrieved by Rama Rao’s criticism of the BJP’s use of Lord Ram’s name for electoral gain, perceiving it as an affront to their religious sentiments. Despite the disruption, Rama Rao urged the protestors not to engage in such actions and questioned the lack of police intervention against the disruptors. Amidst the chaos, a few individuals threw onions and tomatoes, landing near the BRS leader’s campaign vehicle.

Undeterred by the disturbance, Rama Rao continued his speech. Subsequently, the police intervened to disperse the protestors. Popularly known as KTR, Rama Rao was campaigning in Bhainsa within the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency for the party candidate Atram Sakku. He criticized the Congress, alleging its failure to fulfill promises made to the people during its five-month tenure in Telangana, particularly citing power cuts across the state. Additionally, he questioned the unfulfilled pledges such as farm loan waivers, financial assistance for farmers, and various welfare schemes.

Asserting the need for change, Rama Rao urged the electorate not to place trust in the Congress again and advocated for the election of a BRS candidate to represent their interests in Parliament. He also criticized the BJP, accusing it of neglecting the development of Adilabad and Telangana.
