In a bid to elevate the scenic beauty of Hussain Sagar lake, nestled in the heart of Hyderabad, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has unveiled a newly-developed Lake Front Park, sprawling across 10 acres of lush green land.

This exciting development was recently shared by Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, K. T. Rama Rao, who posted captivating images of the park located adjacent to Jalavihar, along Necklace Road. He eagerly announced, “Will be inaugurating the park in a few days. Hope you all will visit and enjoy the beautiful Boardwalk.”

The Lake Front Park boasts a distinctive pivoted bridge that extends into the lake, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the tranquil surroundings. HMDA has also thoughtfully provided walking tracks for leisurely strolls.

KTR commended HMDA for their efforts and emphasized the importance of ongoing maintenance to ensure the park remains a pristine attraction.

This addition to the area comes hot on the heels of several other notable landmarks, including Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s 125-feet statue, the new Secretariat complex, and the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial. These additions have collectively breathed new life into the iconic lake, drawing thousands of visitors daily.

For decades, the Buddha statue in the lake has been a source of pride for the city. Ambedkar’s bronze statue, nestled near the lake’s banks, has become an added draw for tourists.

With the Lake Front Park joining this vibrant landscape, which includes the historic Tank Bund road dividing Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Hussain Sagar continues to be a cherished destination. Its strategic location, natural beauty, boating facilities, surrounding parks, food joints, and Imax theatre make it a perennial favorite among citizens.

Families gather here to spend leisurely evenings, tourists wander along the foreshore, boats cruise on the shimmering waters, and selfies are snapped at the ‘Love Hyderabad’ sculpture, a relatively recent addition.

Moreover, the area offers a multitude of attractions, including Lumbini Park, NTR Garden, Sanjeevaiah Park, People’s Plaza for games, and the delectable delights of Eat Street.

In 2016, the landscape welcomed another eye-catching feature with the installation of a 72 by 108 feet national flag atop a towering 291-feet high flag post at Sanjeevaiah Park.

To further enhance the allure of Hussain Sagar, an artificial island constructed from dredged sediments is gradually taking shape, promising yet another captivating facet to this historic lake.

The rejuvenation of Hussain Sagar traces back to the 1980s when N. T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, undertook a revitalization effort. He adorned the area with statues of 33 eminent Telugu personalities, though this move sparked environmental debates due to space constraints.

Furthermore, he oversaw the installation of a majestic 58-feet tall Buddha statue, perched atop the ‘Rock of Gibraltar’ in the middle of the lake. Crafted from 450 tons of white granite by 200 skilled sculptors over two years, this statue was an awe-inspiring addition in 1992, resting on a resplendent red lotus pedestal
