Hyderabad : The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has thrown down the gauntlet to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), challenging him to contest from the Goshamahal Assembly Constituency to prove his secular credentials. Amjed Ullah Khan, the spokesman for MBT, condemned the recent revocation of the suspension of Raja Singh and his subsequent appearance in the BJP’s candidate list.
Mr. Khan expressed his certainty that the suspension of Raja Singh would be revoked, indicating BJP’s consistent policy to cater to the sentiments of Islamic followers. He argued that Raja Singh’s suspension was never due to his statements against Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) but rather because he had challenged senior upper-caste leaders within the BJP. According to Mr. Khan, Raja Singh was reinstated to garner support from Other Backward Classes (OBC) and fanatic Hindu voters.
Challenging KCR directly, Mr. Khan insisted that either the Chief Minister himself should file his nomination from Goshamahal Assembly Constituency or delegate the task to his son K T Rama Rao, daughter Kavita Rao, or nephew Harish Rao. Mr. Khan claimed that Raja Singh, responsible for hurting Muslim religious sentiments, must be defeated.
Mr. Khan further alleged a covert alliance between KCR and Raja Singh, citing the closure of several cases against Raja Singh by the Telangana Police Department, often citing lack of evidence. He challenged KTR or Harish Rao to produce any statement or tweet condemning Raja Singh’s anti-Islam remarks. Mr. Khan expressed confidence that the voters of Goshamahal Assembly Constituency would reject the BJP and BRS nexus and elect a truly secular candidate.
