
Hyderabad : On the night of New Year’s Eve, the traffic police across the tri commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda took stringent action, collectively booking approximately 3,000 cases of drunk driving. Hyderabad Police recorded 1,243 cases, Cyberabad 1,241, and Rachakonda 517.
Vehicle Breakdown:
Out of the total cases, 2,435 were against two-wheeler riders found driving under the influence, 493 against four-wheeler drivers, and 73 against three-wheelers. Notably, two women and two transgender individuals were among those apprehended.
Intensive Night Checks:
Traffic police, under the supervision of senior officials, conducted thorough checks at crucial city and outskirts locations throughout the night. This measure aimed to prevent road accidents during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. All offenders are required to appear before the respective courts and undergo counseling at the Traffic Training Institutes in the city.
Hotspots of Violations:
In Cyberabad, the Miyapur traffic police station topped the list with 253 persons caught, while Chandrayangutta traffic police station in Hyderabad recorded 66 cases, and Uppal traffic police station in Rachakonda reported 107 cases.
Ensuring Public Safety:
Instances of misbehavior and abuse toward traffic police personnel during the drunk driving checks were reported, prompting the traffic police to involve local authorities. The individuals involved were taken into custody and transported to the police station.
