HYDERABAD : In a significant move, the Telangana State government initiated the first major reshuffle of senior IAS officers on Thursday, bringing about key changes in key positions. The restructuring aims to address critical roles in the Energy sector and DISCOMS, signaling a departure from the previous administration.
Concerns over irregularities in the power supply to the farming sector during the previous government prompted the current Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, to prioritize the Energy wing in his administration. Notably, the government has appointed experienced senior officials to oversee the Energy wing and DISCOMS.
As part of the reshuffle, Health Secretary Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi has been appointed as the Energy Secretary, assuming full additional charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana State Transmission Corporation (TS TRANSCO) and Telangana State Generation Corporation (TS GENCO). Furthermore, Joint Secretary for Tourism Sandeep Kumar Jha is transferred and appointed as the Joint Managing Director of TS TRANSCO.
Other notable changes include the transfer of Director of Industries and Joint Secretary for Finance D Krishna Bhaskar to the post of Officer on Special Duty to the Deputy Chief Minister. Additionally, Musharraf Ali Farooqui, previously awaiting posting, has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL). Karnati Varun Reddy is now posted as the Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana State Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL) at Warangal.
Further adjustments include the appointment of Principal Secretary for Tourism Shailaja Ramaiyer, who assumes full additional charge as the Principal Secretary for Health, Medical and Family Welfare, along with Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare. Amrapali Kata is posted as the Joint Metropolitan Commissioner, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), with full additional charge of the post of Managing Director, Musi River Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL).
Lastly, B Gopi takes on the role of Director of Agriculture, relieving M Raghunandan Rao from the position. The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh perspectives and efficiencies to key administrative roles within the state government.
