Kerala Police Registers 54 Cases for Spreading Instigative Content on Social Media After Recent Blasts

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the recent explosions during a Christian prayer meeting near Kalamassery in Kochi, Kerala Police has taken swift action by registering a total of 54 cases against individuals involved in disseminating communally instigative content through social media platforms. This development highlights the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region.

According to the latest reports, the majority of cases, totaling 26, were filed in the Malappuram district. Ernakulam district follows with 15 cases, and Thiruvananthapuram with five cases.

Additionally, two cases each were reported in Thrissur City and Kottayam, with single cases recorded in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, and Kozhikode Rural areas.

In response to this alarming trend, Kerala Police has been diligently identifying numerous fake profiles that have been instrumental in spreading content inciting communal hatred. The authorities have also reached out to social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, requesting assistance in identifying the IP addresses associated with these fake profiles.

The state’s cyber cell is operating round the clock to swiftly trace and address these handles, further demonstrating the state’s resolve to maintain social harmony and security in the region.
