In a distressing turn of events, Israeli occupation forces barred Palestinian worshippers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem today, stripping them of their fundamental right to worship and prayer, as reported by the Palestinian Information Centre.
The Islamic Endowments Department revealed that the Israeli occupation authority abruptly closed all gates leading to the Muslim holy site this afternoon, effectively preventing Palestinians from accessing the mosque. Furthermore, Israeli police have enforced stringent restrictions on worshippers’ entry since the early hours, granting access solely to the elderly for the dawn prayer.
This marks the first instance in several months where Al-Aqsa Mosque, a significant religious site, has been completely inaccessible to Muslims. The move has sparked deep concern and condemnation within the Palestinian community and the international arena, raising questions about the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.
