Tel Aviv witnessed a significant gathering as thousands of protesters took to the streets, vehemently calling for the resignation of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Social media platforms were flooded with footage capturing the fervor of the demonstrations. Among the demonstrators were families and friends of hostages held by Hamas, adding a poignant element to the protest. The crowd demanded intensified efforts from both the Israeli government and the international community to secure the safe return of their loved ones.
This protest came on the heels of similar demonstrations in the UK, where thousands expressed solidarity with Palestine. Cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, and Inverness saw large gatherings in support of the Palestinian cause.
In the midst of these events, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak issued a stern warning about the Israel-Hamas conflict, cautioning that it could trigger a wider “contagion of conflict” across the Middle East. Reflecting on his recent two-day visit to the region, Sunak emphasized the UK’s unwavering support against terrorism. He condemned the atrocities committed by Hamas, emphasizing that there can be no justification for such actions.
The situation remained tense, with reports emerging on Sunday morning detailing Israeli warplanes striking targets in Gaza overnight, as well as targeting two airports in Syria and a mosque in the occupied West Bank. The ongoing unrest underscored the urgency of finding a resolution to the conflict and restoring peace to the region.
