PRLIS Wet Run Set for September 16, Promising Relief for 1,226 Villages

In a momentous event, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is all set to inaugurate the long-anticipated Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Scheme (PRLIS) on September 16. This monumental occasion will witness the initiation of the wet run for the mega pumps, nine in total, each with a staggering capacity of 145 MW, housed at the Narlapur pumping station, which forms a vital part of the Stage I implementation of this ambitious lift irrigation project.

For the drought-stricken southern region districts of the State, this development holds profound significance, as the drinking water component of the project is poised to quench the thirst of over 1,226 villages. The Narlapur pump house, equipped with nine mega pumps, will work tirelessly to transport Krishna river water from the foreshore of the Srisailam project to the Narlapur reservoir, situated merely 2 km away from the project’s core.

To mark this historic moment, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will address a grand public gathering. Residents of erstwhile Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy districts are eagerly preparing to join the celebrations, as their long-cherished dreams transform into reality. The event is expected to draw a vast and jubilant crowd.
