New Delhi, October 23, 2023: Renowned former Indian cricket captain and legendary left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, who left an indelible mark on the world of cricket, breathed his last on Monday after a long battle with illness. He was 77 years old at the time of his demise. He is survived by his wife Anju, son Angad, and daughter Neha.

Bedi’s Legacy: Spinning a Web of Excellence

Bishan Singh Bedi, known for his exceptional left-arm spin, was a pivotal figure in India’s golden era of spin bowling. He was part of the formidable quartet, alongside off-spinners Erapalli Prasanna and Srinivas Venkataraghavan, and leg-spinner Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, that tormented batsmen across the world. Bedi’s illustrious career spanned 67 Test matches, where he scalped 266 wickets.

Bedi’s cricketing journey was studded with remarkable achievements. Notably, his best bowling figures came in Australia’s Perth, where he claimed all 10 wickets in a match, conceding just 94 runs. He also etched his name in history with a phenomenal performance against Australia in 1969, securing 7 wickets for a mere 98 runs.
