In a recent development surrounding the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canadian authorities have apprehended three Indian nationals residing in Edmonton. The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that Canada informed them about the arrests, yet no formal communication has been received regarding the matter.

According to Canadian police reports, Karan Brar (22), Kamalpreet Singh (22), and Karanpreet Singh (28) have been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. However, the MEA spokesperson mentioned that no specific or relevant evidence has been shared with India concerning the case.

Despite Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s previous assertions implicating New Delhi in Nijjar’s death, investigations are ongoing. Trudeau emphasized that the current inquiry extends beyond the three individuals arrested and includes a broader scope.

The arrests were made by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) with assistance from the British Columbia and Alberta Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Edmonton Police Service. Sources suggest that the suspects entered Canada on student visas but may have been operating under the direction of Indian intelligence during the incident.
