Hyderabad, Jan 5: In a recent turn of events, a group of individuals staged a protest at Praja Bhavan, accusing former Telangana minister Malla Reddy of unlawfully seizing their lands. The protest occurred during the Praja Vani program on Friday, with protesters alleging that Malla Reddy, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader, utilized fraudulent documents to encroach upon their plots near Malla Reddy University in Dulapally.

The demonstrators, asserting that Malla Reddy and his associates had encroached on 130 out of 360 plots, urged the present A. Revnath Reddy-led government to intervene and ensure justice. Malla Reddy, currently an MLA from Medchal constituency, faced placard-wielding protestors who gathered in front of Praja Bhavan, the official residence of the Deputy Chief Minister, where public grievances are heard during the Praja Vani program held every Tuesday and Friday.

The banner displayed by Sri Mallikarjuna Sagar Welfare and Development Society read ‘Malla Reddy land grabbing victims.’ Victims recounted their struggles, claiming that despite owning the plots since 1990, attempts to construct were thwarted by those asserting false ownership.

This accusation comes in the wake of a previous case where Malla Reddy and seven others were booked for allegedly encroaching 47 acres of tribal land in Keshavaram village. The complainant, Kethavath Bikshapathi, accused the defendants of illegally occupying ancestral land through fraud during the election period. Malla Reddy refuted the allegations, vowing to approach the court.

Malla Reddy, a prominent BRS leader, operates a private university and a network of educational institutions, including engineering and medical colleges and hospitals. The fresh accusations add to the legal challenges faced by the politician in recent times.
