Hyderabad : In a pivotal development, a high-profile delegation from the renowned Taiwanese contract manufacturing giant, Foxconn, held a crucial meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The meeting, which took place at the State Secretariat, marked the first interaction between the representatives of Foxconn, a key player in the technology industry, and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy since he assumed office earlier this month.
The delegation, representing Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), discussed the progress and future prospects of the Foxconn plant currently under construction near Hyderabad. Notable attendees included Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Chief Secretary of the Department of Information Technology Jayesh Ranjan, and other senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy underscored his government’s unwavering commitment to fostering industrial development within the state. He emphasized the responsibility of the newly formed government to fulfill the aspirations of the people and affirmed a friendly approach towards all sectors.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy assured the Foxconn delegation of full support and cooperation from the government for their industrial endeavors. He outlined plans to streamline the process of obtaining permits for the development and establishment of industries while concurrently investing in the necessary infrastructure.
Highlighting his vision, the Chief Minister outlined comprehensive steps to position Telangana as a leading industrial state in the country. This commitment aligns with the state’s efforts to attract major players in the technology and manufacturing sectors.
It is noteworthy that Foxconn’s interest in Telangana materialized earlier with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a visit by Foxconn Chairman Young Liu to Hyderabad in March. The proposed factory, set to occupy 200 acres in Kongara Kalan near Hyderabad, is anticipated to manufacture Apple AirPods and is slated for inauguration in the coming year. The project holds the promise of generating substantial employment opportunities, with projections reaching up to one lakh jobs. The ongoing collaboration between Foxconn and the Telangana government signifies a pivotal milestone in the state’s journey towards becoming a prominent hub for industrial innovation and growth.
