Fostering Cultural Harmony and Welfare: Telangana Tamil Sangam’s Meeting with Governor

Hyderabad : A delegation from Telangana Tamil Sangam had the esteemed privilege of meeting with the Governor of Telangana, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, on Thursday, October 5, 2023. The purpose of this meeting was twofold: to extend a formal invitation to Her Excellency to serve as the Chief Guest at an upcoming event hosted by Telangana Tamil Sangam and to engage in discussions concerning various welfare activities designed to benefit the Tamil-speaking community within the state.

Representatives from Telangana Tamil Sangam extended a warm welcome to Her Excellency, expressing their deep appreciation for her willingness to meet with them. They provided an overview of the organization’s initiatives, underscoring their steadfast commitment to the promotion of Tamil language, culture, and heritage within the region.

The delegation, led by President M. K. Bose, presented a memorandum to the Governor, addressing matters pertaining to the welfare of Tamilians in the state. They also discussed the proposed extension of the Charminar Express railway line from Hyderabad to Kanyakumari, with stops at prominent temple cities including Villupuram, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, and Thanjavur. Telangana Tamil Sangam had previously submitted a representation to the Honorable Minister for Railways, Government of India, and copied the same to G. Kishan Reddy, Minister for Tourism and Development, Government of India, as well as the General Managers of South Central Railway, Secunderabad, Southern Railway, Chennai, and Trichy. The Governor offered her assurance to take necessary and affirmative actions in response to the memorandum.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussions regarding an upcoming event hosted by Telangana Tamil Sangam, intended to celebrate and showcase the rich tapestry of Tamil culture and heritage. The delegation formally extended an invitation to Her Excellency, requesting her esteemed presence as the Chief Guest at the event. They emphasized the profound impact of Her Excellency’s participation in promoting cultural diversity and fostering unity among the state’s various linguistic communities.

Her Excellency, the Governor, commended the commendable efforts of Telangana Tamil Sangam in preserving and promoting Tamil culture and expressed her willingness to consider the invitation to serve as the Chief Guest at the upcoming event. She also lauded the organization’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of Tamil-speaking people, encouraging their continued endeavors in this regard.

Vice President P. Dharmaseelan, General Secretary S. Rajkumar, and Executive Members J. S. Vasan and E. Saravanan, who were part of the delegation, extended their heartfelt gratitude to Her Excellency for her time and consideration. They reassured her of their resolute commitment to nurturing a harmonious and inclusive society within the state.

Telangana Tamil Sangam remains steadfast in its mission to preserve and propagate the Tamil language and culture while actively engaging in activities that contribute to the welfare and well-being of the Tamil-speaking community in the state of Telangana.
