In a moment of celebration for Muslims in Saudi Arabia, the sighting of the crescent moon signals the start of Ramadan. The holy month officially commences there on March 11. Tonight, Ramadhān 1445 will commence with taraweeh prayers after Isha.

However, in India, the Holy Month of Ramzan will begin from Tuesday, March 12. Ramadan holds profound significance for Muslims as it marks the period when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad.

During Ramadan, Muslims observe fast from dawn to dusk, a practice considered one of the five pillars of Islam. The exact number of fasts observed, either 29 or 30, depends on the sighting of the moon, crucial for determining the beginning and end of the month. Eid-ul-Fitr follows the conclusion of Ramadan.

As per reports, the crescent moon could not be seen from the Tumair Observatory, leading to further anticipation and observance in other regions.

In South Asian countries like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, Ramadan may commence a day later, with Taraweeh prayers starting on the evening of March 11, and the first fast observed on March 12, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon on the evening of March 11 after Maghrib prayers.
