Hyderabad : In a significant political development, several prominent leaders from Telangana, including Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao and his son Rohith, former Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, and others, officially joined the Congress party. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president, Mallikarjun Kharge.
The notable additions to the Congress party’s ranks also included former Bhongir District Congress Committee (DCC) president Kumbam Anil Kumar Reddy and former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Nakka Prabhakar Goud. The event was held at the residence of Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi and saw the presence of key party leaders from the state.
Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, who had recently resigned from the BRS party, took this step to ensure that his son, Mynampally Rohith, has the opportunity to contest from the Medak Assembly constituency. He also advocated for his close associate Prabhakar Goud, who had contested from Medchal on a BSP ticket in 2018, to get another chance, this time representing the Congress party.
Kumbam Anil Kumar Reddy, a prominent leader from Bhongir, expressed his desire to contest from the Bhongir constituency in the upcoming Assembly polls. Notably, he returned to the Congress party within a short span of two months after initially joining the BRS party.
Vemula Veeresham, who had been overlooked by the BRS party in the recent political landscape, now aspires to contest from Nakrekal on the Congress ticket in the upcoming Assembly elections.
The addition of these seasoned leaders is expected to strengthen the Congress party’s presence and prospects in Telangana as it gears up for the upcoming Assembly elections.
