New Delhi : In a strategic move with subtle political undertones, the Congress party took to social media platform X on Friday, lauding the diversity within ‘Team India’ and encouraging them to triumph in the upcoming Cricket World Cup. The posts on X seemed to carry a nuanced reference to the ‘INDIA’ bloc of parties, uniting against the BJP in the forthcoming general elections.
The Congress’s X handle echoed sentiments of unity, emphasizing the diverse origins of ‘Team India’ members, spanning across various regions, languages, and religions. The statements, seemingly broader than cricket, carried a symbolic reference to the political alliance forming against the BJP.
“Diverse regions, Varied languages, Distinct religions, yet, one unwavering ‘Team India.’ This embodies the true essence of our nation,” read a post from the official Congress X handle.
Employing evocative language such as “Chak de Team India,” “TEAM INDIA – ‘NAAM’ HI KAAFI HAI,” and “Mean in Blue,” the Congress underscored its support for the cricket team. The posts featured images of Team India players along with the map of India, emphasizing their diverse geographical origins, including states like Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
While showcasing the ‘men in blue,’ the Congress subtly alluded to the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), a coalition of 26 opposition parties gearing up to challenge the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
