Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Congress party, voiced his optimism on Wednesday, asserting that the grand old party is poised to secure victories in all five states scheduled for elections next month. Kharge also highlighted anti-incumbency sentiments within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking to a news agency in Kalaburgi, Kharge commended the Congress-led governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, emphasizing their effective governance and minimal public disruptions. He stated, “Congress’ preparations for the elections in five states are going well. We are confident that we will win in all the states. There has been an anti-incumbency for the BJP owing to mainly inflation and unemployment.”

Kharge went on to reveal a shifting sentiment in Madhya Pradesh, indicating a growing dissatisfaction with the BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In a series of accusations, the Congress leader criticized the BJP at the national level, asserting that the party failed to deliver on any of its electoral promises. “Whatever promises were made, BJP did not fulfill even a single promise, be it unemployment, doubling farmer’s income, or investment,” he claimed.

During his visit to his hometown of Kalaburgi in Karnataka, Kharge accused the Central government of neglecting the state, stating, “No central projects are being given (to Karnataka).”

As the Assembly Elections draw near, both Congress and BJP emerge as pivotal players in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Telangana, on the other hand, is expected to witness a three-way contest involving the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Congress, and BJP.

In the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, which comprises 230 seats, the 2018 elections saw Congress securing 114 seats with a vote share of 41.5%, while the BJP won 109 seats with a vote share of 41.6%.

These crucial state elections are scheduled to be held in single or two phases across all five states—Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram—in November.

The voting schedule is as follows: Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30. The final vote count for all states is slated for December 3.
