Hyderabad : In a significant development aimed at transforming the education landscape in the state, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy declared the establishment of 10 skill universities across the erstwhile undivided districts. This announcement took place during a comprehensive review meeting on the education sector, attended by key officials including Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, TSCHE chairperson Prof. Limbadri, and other prominent figures.

The primary focus of these skill universities is to foster skill development, entrepreneurship, and education tailored to meet the demands of various industries. CM Reddy stressed the importance of creating a skilled workforce through the introduction of employment-oriented short-term and long-term courses. In a bid to gather insights, officials were directed to conduct a thorough study on the operational models of skill universities in states like Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

The ambitious plan includes the establishment of skill universities in nine districts and at the Kodangal Assembly constituency. To streamline the process, CM Reddy instructed the Chief Secretary to form a special committee comprising secretaries from the education, industries, and labour departments to submit suitable proposals.

During the meeting, CM Reddy also distributed laptops to students at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing technological resources for education.

In a noteworthy directive, CM Reddy emphasized the need for each Gram Panchayat to have a government school. He highlighted the significance of establishing government schools in remote villages to ensure that children are not deterred from education due to long travel distances.

To revitalize the education system, CM Reddy ordered the reopening of all government schools that were closed under the previous regime, irrespective of their strength. Additionally, plans were set in motion for a mega DSC (District Selection Committee) to recruit teachers and ensure the effective functioning of all government schools.

Under the ‘Mana Vooru, Mana Badi’ initiative, CM Reddy urged officials to expedite pending works and transform every school into a beacon of quality education. He specifically addressed challenges related to teacher promotions and transfers, suggesting dialogue with teachers’ unions to explore alternative solutions.

Addressing issues related to power charges for schools under business and industrial categories, CM Reddy expressed a commitment to exploring viable alternatives. Furthermore, instructions were issued to authorities to arrange for sweepers and sanitation workers in each school to enhance overall cleanliness.
