Hyderabad , – Heavy to very heavy rains have unleashed chaos across several districts in the state, particularly in Hyderabad, disrupting normal life and inundating many areas.
Numerous colonies across various regions found themselves submerged as streets turned into waterways. In response to the dire situation, district collectors in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal, Vikarabad, and other districts have taken proactive measures by declaring a holiday for educational institutions.
According to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), a staggering 17 districts have recorded very heavy rainfall, ranging from 115.88 mm to 144.55 mm, as of 7 am on Tuesday morning.
Among these districts, Gandhari mandal in Kamareddy has borne the brunt with a record-breaking 144.5 mm of rainfall. Other severely affected areas include Serilingampally in Rangareddy, receiving 140.8 mm, and Medchal, witnessing 138 mm of rainfall.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Jangaon districts until Wednesday morning.
Furthermore, the department predicts heavy rainfall at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar districts.
Officials also caution that thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, are very likely to occur at isolated locations throughout all the districts.
The situation remains fluid, and authorities are urging residents to exercise caution, stay informed, and take necessary precautions as the inclement weather continues to impact the region.
