In a series of operations conducted in Mizoram and Assam, Assam Rifles troopers successfully seized drugs valued at Rs 9.43 crore and fake Indian currency amounting to Rs 10,500. The operations, carried out in different locations, resulted in the apprehension of three drug peddlers, including a woman.

Acting on credible intelligence, Assam Rifles personnel, along with Customs officials, intercepted a consignment in Zokhawthar, Mizoram, recovering 628 grams of heroin with an estimated value of Rs 4.39 crore. Simultaneously, in a raid along the Champhai-Aizawl road in Champhai district, 95 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes, valued at Rs 1.23 crore, were confiscated. A 29-year-old woman was arrested during this operation.

In a separate mission, the para-military force seized 22,000 highly addictive Methamphetamine tablets (commonly known as Yaba tablets) worth Rs 3.8 crore, along with fake Indian currencies totaling Rs 10,500. Two drug peddlers were apprehended in Assam’s Patharkandi in Karimganj district. Authorities believe that these narcotics and counterfeit currencies were smuggled in from Myanmar.

Major General Vinod Kumar Nambiar, Inspector General, Assam Rifles (East), met with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma in Aizawl. During the meeting, Major General Nambiar affirmed the commitment of Assam Rifles to combat the drug trade and dismantle drug cartels. Chief Minister Lalduhoma commended the efforts of the force and pledged full cooperation from the state government in this anti-drug initiative.
