A shocking incident in the US state of Indiana has left a 24-year-old Indian student, identified as Varun, in critical condition after being stabbed in the temple. The assailant, 24-year-old Jordan Andrade, reportedly attacked Varun with a knife at a public gym in Valparaiso, Indiana, on Sunday morning. The motives behind the attack are currently under investigation, as reported by NWIU Times.

Following the distressing incident, the attacker, Jordan Andrade, was promptly arrested and now faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

The severity of Varun’s injuries necessitated his immediate transfer to a Fort Wayne hospital, where he received medical attention. Shockingly, reports indicate that Varun’s prognosis for survival was assessed at an alarming zero to five per cent. His condition is currently listed as serious after the violent assault.

According to the account provided by the attacker, Andrade had requested a massage earlier in the morning and entered the massage room to find Varun, a man he did not know but found “a little weird.” Feeling threatened, Andrade asserted that he reacted in what he considered the “right way,” as detailed in a charging document.

The investigation into this harrowing incident is ongoing as authorities work to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the attack on Varun.
