ROCHESTER, NY – In a recent incident, an American Eagle flight 5811 skidded off the taxiway at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Thursday as the Embraer E145 landed amid snowy conditions in the city.

Despite landing nearly an hour late and veering into the grass during a turn on the snowy airfield, all 53 passengers on board were reported to be safe, according to statements from American Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Flight 5811, originating from Philadelphia International Airport, experienced challenging conditions upon landing, with light snow prevailing at the time. Emergency services promptly responded to the scene, ensuring the safety of all passengers.

American Airlines expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to its customers, emphasizing that safety is their top priority. The FAA has announced an investigation into the incident, and the aircraft will be towed off the taxiway for a comprehensive inspection.

Passengers took to social media platforms to share their experiences. One passenger tweeted, “My AmericanAir plane just ran off the runway into the grass at @ROCAirport. Happy landings.” Another described the landing as “very intense,” while a third suggested that the pilot may have taken the turn too quickly.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, American Airlines assured that everyone deplaned safely and was transported to the terminal by bus. The airline pledged full cooperation with the FAA investigation, and the affected aircraft will be temporarily taken out of service for inspection.
