Agra (UP): In a demonstration of solidarity among members of the Indian National Democratic Alliance (INDIA), Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Agra on Sunday. Yadav’s participation came after the finalization of a seat-sharing agreement between the SP and the Congress last week. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also graced the yatra with her presence.
Addressing the gathered crowd alongside Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav emphasized the imperative of safeguarding democracy and the Constitution, echoing the sentiment, “BJP haatao, desh ko bachao” (Remove BJP, save the country). This alliance marks a significant step in Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape, with Yadav being among the first opposition leaders from the state to join Gandhi’s yatra, which is scheduled to continue until March.
Last week, in a bid to solidify the alliance, the Congress leadership accepted the SP’s offer of 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh, putting an end to speculations regarding potential cracks in the alliance.
