Deputy Chief Minister Emphasizes Preparation for 2031-32 Power Consumption Surge

Hyderabad, Jan 5,2024 : – In a recent review meeting of the Energy department, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka called upon officials to proactively devise plans for bolstering power generation, transmission, and distribution capacities. The directive comes in response to projections from the Central Electricity Authority indicating a substantial increase in power demand by 2031-32.

Meeting Overview:
Mr. Vikramarka emphasized expediting the construction of key power projects, including the 2,400 MW NTPC project at Ramagundam. Special attention was urged for the Jaipur thermal power plant, aiming to add an additional 800 MW to the current capacity under the Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

Project Progress:
Officials reported that 1,600 MW of the promised 4,000 MW plant, as per the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, had been completed. The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply for all sectors during the upcoming summer season.

This proactive approach aims to address the escalating energy needs of the State, aligning with projected demands and ensuring sustainable power provision for the future
