
Operations at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) faced significant disruptions due to adverse weather conditions, resulting in the diversion of eight flights and the cancellation of 12 flights on Tuesday. The ongoing inclement weather has been impacting airport operations since last week.
A GMR Airport official commented on the situation, stating, “The adverse weather and poor visibility have led to the diversion of eight flights and the cancellation of 12 flights on Tuesday.” Poor visibility caused by dense fog was cited as the primary factor affecting flight operations at RGIA.
Flight Diversions:
- IndiGo’s flight 6E 048 from Muscat to Hyderabad was rerouted to Nagpur.
- Flight 6E 1496 from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport was diverted to Goa’s Manohar International Airport.
- Flight 6E 6923 from Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport was rerouted to Nagpur’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
Diverse Destinations for Diversions:
The diverted flights were rerouted to airports in Bengaluru, Nagpur, Chennai, and Goa. Flights originating from Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, and a German cargo flight were among those affected.
Specific Diversions:
- Indigo’s 6E-048 flight from Muscat was diverted to Nagpur.
- Bluedart 481 flight from Mumbai was diverted to Chennai.
- Indigo’s 6E 6623 from Kolkata was also rerouted to Chennai.
- 6E-1496 Ras Al Khaimah-Hyderabad was diverted to Goa.
- Indigo’s 6E-6923 flight from Bengaluru was diverted to Nagpur.
- 3S-625 German Cargo flight was rerouted to Bengaluru.
- 6E 2337 from Delhi and WY 235 from Muscat were also diverted to Bengaluru.
Flight Cancellations:
A total of 12 flights from various airlines were canceled due to the challenging weather conditions, exacerbating the operational challenges faced by Hyderabad Airport.
