Alleges Amit Shah and BJP’s Habit of Seeking Votes by Derogatory Remarks against Congress and Nehru

New Delhi : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not addressing Parliament regarding the serious security breach on December 13. Kharge, speaking at the party headquarters, accused Shah and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of undermining the contributions of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi to gain political mileage.

Expressing concern over the lack of focus on the security breach issue, Kharge stated, “We have repeatedly requested the Home Minister to provide a statement in Parliament regarding the security breach. Despite making lengthy statements on television, the Home Minister avoids addressing the House for just five minutes. This reluctance to engage in parliamentary dialogue is not conducive to the democratic process.”

Responding to accusations from Shah and the BJP about politicizing the security breach, Kharge dismissed it as a habitual strategy. He remarked, “It is their habit to accuse Congress and exploit our party’s name for votes, while continuously ridiculing the significant contributions of Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi. We can expect nothing from those who do not value democracy.”

The Parliament has witnessed disruptions for the past two days as the Opposition demands a comprehensive statement from Shah in both Houses. The breach, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, involved individuals jumping from the visitors’ gallery during Lok Sabha proceedings. The ongoing stalemate has led to the suspension of 14 MPs, further intensifying the parliamentary deadlock.

Stay tuned for updates on this evolving political standoff, where Amit Shah and BJP are accused of leveraging Congress and Nehru’s name for electoral gains and resorting to derogatory remarks.
