Hyderabad : In a swift move by the Telangana State government, Ravi Gupta has been appointed as the new Director-General of Police (DGP) for the State, replacing the recently suspended DGP Anjani Kumar.

The decision came just hours after the suspension of Anjani Kumar, following the issuance of notices to two Additional DG rank officers, Sanjay Jain and Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, by the State government. The suspension and notices were in response to alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct, as directed by the Election Commission of India.

Ravi Gupta, currently serving as the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), has been entrusted with the full additional charge of the post of DGP (Head of Police Force) with immediate effect. It is anticipated that once the new government assumes charges, Ravi Gupta will likely be officially appointed to the position.
