Hyderabad : In a bid to shatter the silence surrounding HIV/AIDS and foster an environment of empathy and support, Kamineni Hospitals, LB Nagar, Hyderabad, organized an Awareness Walk on the occasion of World AIDS Day this year. The event aimed to reduce blame associated with the disease and draw attention to the societal, economic, and emotional aspects impacted by HIV/AIDS.

The event received an overwhelming response from participants and supporters who walked hand-in-hand, promoting awareness and solidarity. Doctors from various departments of Kamineni Hospitals, including Dr J. Harikishan, Dr Ratnachary, Dr Shyam Sunder, Dr Ramakrishna, Dr Suresh, and Dr Srikrishna, participated and shared valuable insights on HIV/AIDS. Local public of LB Nagar also actively joined the event, carrying placards and banners with messages advocating empathy, education, and inclusivity.

Dr. Swamy M, Head of the Department (HOD) and Consultant General Medicine at Kamineni Hospitals, emphasized the significance of knowledge in the battle against HIV/AIDS. He stressed the importance of correct information in enabling individuals to make informed decisions, undergo regular screenings, and contribute to breaking down barriers associated with the disease. Dr. Swamy M highlighted that approximately 38 million people globally live with HIV and that awareness is the first step in reducing this number.

Dr. K. Anjaiah, Medical Superintendent, KAMSRC, expressed gratitude to all participants, supporters, and collaborators for their commitment to creating a world without AIDS. He emphasized that the AIDS Day Awareness Walk has illuminated the path towards a healthier future, celebrating the strength of unity and the power of awareness. Dr. K. Anjaiah urged everyone to remember that knowledge is the greatest ally in the fight against HIV/AIDS and that each step brings the world closer to a future where compassion prevails over stigma and understanding triumphs over ignorance.
