Telangana: Congress Unveils Manifesto: ‘Abhaya Hastham’ Assures Six Guarantees

In a bid to woo voters ahead of the upcoming Telangana elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the party’s manifesto on Friday, outlining a series of promises and declarations under the banner of ‘Abhaya Hastham.’

Financial Empowerment for Women: ‘Mahalakshmi’ Scheme

As part of their manifesto, the Congress party pledged to provide Rs 2,500 in monthly financial assistance to women under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme. Additionally, women will benefit from affordable gas cylinders priced at Rs 500 and enjoy free travel on Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses throughout the state.

Agricultural Support: ‘Rythu Bharosa’ and More

The manifesto assures financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers and tenant farmers, with an annual sum of Rs 12,000 allocated for agricultural laborers. A bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy falls under the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ initiative.

Power to the Homes: ‘Gruha Jyothi’ Scheme

If the Congress secures power in the state, they commit to providing 200 units of free electricity to all households under the ‘Gruha Jyothi’ scheme.

Housing Initiatives: ‘Indiramma Indlu’

Under the ‘Indiramma Indlu’ scheme, families without homes will be offered house sites, accompanied by a financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for construction. Telangana movement fighters are promised 250 sq yards house sites.

Socio-Economic Welfare: ‘Cheyutha’ Scheme

The manifesto includes the ‘Cheyutha’ initiative, ensuring a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 for various segments of society, including senior citizens, widows, disabled individuals, beedi workers, single women, toddy tappers, weavers, AIDS and Filaria patients, and kidney patients undergoing dialysis. The Congress also commits to providing health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh.

The manifesto launch coincided with ongoing polling in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, demonstrating the party’s commitment to addressing key issues and concerns in Telangana if they come to power.
