Hyderabad : In a proactive move to address the challenges faced by families affected by the actions of rowdy sheeters, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Shandilya, has initiated a comprehensive assessment. The directive, issued to all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in the city, involves compiling a list of names and addresses of individuals who fell victim to rowdy sheeter violence over the past five years.

Empowering Women Officers for On-Ground Assessment

Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya has entrusted women officers of DCP rank with the responsibility of visiting the homes of the victims. Their task is to gather first-hand information about the difficulties being encountered by the affected families. This on-ground assessment, directed by the Commissioner, is set to commence immediately.

Commissioner Shandilya’s decision to launch this initiative arose from revelations during a recent survey of rowdy sheeters regarding the challenges faced by their families. The families disclosed to police officials that issues arose when their spouses went to jail, fled due to life threats, or were incarcerated under the PD Act.

Upon completion of the survey, the police plan to convene a meeting with various stakeholders. The objective is to identify potential legal, governmental, and NGO-backed support that can be extended to the families affected by rowdy sheeter violence.
