
In a startling revelation, a computer science graduate has been apprehended in Bengaluru for his alleged involvement in the theft of a substantial cache of electronic devices, including 133 laptops, 19 mobile phones, and four tablets, with a cumulative value of Rs 75 lakh. Bengaluru’s Police Commissioner, B. Dayananda, disclosed this development on Tuesday.
The accused individual, who had previously been employed at an IT company, adopted a modus operandi that involved frequenting paying guest accommodations and bachelor lodgings, where he systematically pilfered laptops and mobile phones.
In addition to the primary suspect, the police have also apprehended two accomplices who played a role in receiving the stolen electronic items and subsequently selling them in the market.
B. Dayananda confirmed that all three individuals are now in police custody and are awaiting judicial proceedings. This case has unraveled approximately eight incidents within the central division, with investigations extending to other police stations to identify additional offenses.
In a separate operation, the Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru successfully dismantled a major betting racket, executing raids at 11 different locations and arresting 13 individuals involved in this illegal enterprise. The police have registered 11 cases in connection with this operation and have seized over Rs 10 lakh in illicit proceeds.
