In a stunning turn of events, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, a prominent figure in the Telangana BJP, has tendered his resignation and is poised to make a comeback to the Congress, the party he was previously associated with. Reddy, who joined the saffron party approximately 15 months ago, is anticipated to formalize his return to the Congress in a ceremony attended by Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi.

Reports indicate that Rajagopal Reddy is strongly considering a bid for the Munugodu constituency on the Congress ticket.

Expressing his reasons for leaving the BJP, Rajagopal Reddy cited the party’s inability to establish itself as a credible alternative to the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana.

In an official statement released to the media, Rajagopal Reddy stated, “The BJP, which emerged as an alternative to the ruling BRS in Telangana a year-and-a-half ago, has somewhat compromised its position in subsequent political developments. Now the people of Telangana are looking at the Congress as an alternative to the ruling BRS. That is why I also decided to act according to the wishes of Telangana people.”

He further elaborated, “Political equations in the state have shifted, as the people’s desire for the Central government to take action against the corrupt K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) government remains unfulfilled. Since the BJP could not successfully position itself as an alternative to the ruling BRS, the Congress has stepped into that role. My aspirations were always centered on safeguarding the interests of Telangana. I call upon the people of the state to support me as I join the Congress in a bid to end the dictatorial rule of KCR.”
