Noida : The District Development Residents Welfare Association (DDRWA) of Noida has declared its intention to challenge the recent acquittal of domestic help Surendra Koli and his employer Moninder Singh Pandher in the infamous 2006 Nithari serial killings case. The Allahabad High Court’s verdict, which acquitted the accused, has prompted this move, and the DDRWA is taking steps to appeal the decision in the Supreme Court.

DDRWA has initiated consultations with legal experts and held meetings with the families of the victims to strategize the way forward. The association has committed to supporting the legal expenses for the case in the Supreme Court.

N P Singh, President of DDRWA, stated, “Initially, we contemplated providing financial assistance to the victim families. However, after extensive deliberations, it was decided that we would take up the case and bear the legal costs required for pursuing justice in the Supreme Court.”

He further added, “We have obtained consent from the victim families and are currently working closely with legal experts who are thoroughly analyzing the Allahabad High Court’s verdict. Their expertise will guide us in formulating our approach. We are optimistic about filing our petition in the Supreme Court within a week.”

Ashok, one of the affected parents who lost his five-year-old son in the Nithari serial killings, expressed his support for DDRWA’s initiative, saying, “I have given them my approval to pursue this case in the highest court. The outcome remains to be seen.”

Moninder Singh Pandher, a businessman previously arrested in connection with the case, was released from Luksar jail in Greater Noida on Friday after the Allahabad High Court acquitted him and his domestic help, Koli. The high court’s decision was based on the observation that the prosecution failed to establish guilt “beyond reasonable doubt” and cited issues with the initial investigation.

The two individuals had faced charges of rape and murder and were originally sentenced to death by a lower court in connection with the Nithari serial killings in Noida. The case had shocked the nation due to the horrific details of sexual assault, brutal murders, and indications of potential cannibalism.
