Hyderabad : A tragic incident unfolded in Gundla Singaram, Hanamkonda district, Telangana, as a constable fatally shot his mother-in-law during a heated family dispute on Thursday.

The victim, Kamalamma (53), lost her life when Constable A. Prasad discharged a firearm during a tense argument with her. The confrontation led to a fatal outcome.

Following the shooting, enraged family members and neighbors apprehended Prasad and subjected him to physical assault before handing him over to the police.

Prasad had been serving at the Kotapalli police station in Peddapalli district and had been married to Ramadevi, a resident of Gundla Singaram, for approximately 15 years. However, due to ongoing marital conflicts, his wife had been living with her parents for the past three years.

On the fateful Thursday, Prasad visited his in-laws’ residence and engaged in a heated dispute with his mother-in-law regarding a Rs 4 lakh loan he had previously extended to her. In a moment of extreme anger, he retrieved a revolver and fired two rounds, tragically ending Kamalamma’s life.

The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
