Intra-Party Discord Casts a Pall Over BJP’s Prospects in Upcoming State Polls

Hyderabad : The simmering discord between G Kishan Reddy, the president of the Telangana BJP unit, and Eatala Rajender, chairman of the party’s election management committee, is posing a significant threat to the BJP’s election campaign in the state.

Party insiders reveal that the friction between these two prominent leaders has caused confusion and unrest among party members and officials. During a recent visit to Hyderabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs within the Telangana BJP, particularly the lack of coordination among senior leaders. He urged Kishan Reddy and Eatala to put aside their differences and collaborate for the party’s success in the upcoming state assembly polls.

Prakash Javadekar, the BJP’s State election in-charge, also expressed his discontent with the behavior of Kishan Reddy and Eatala, urging them to resolve their disputes and concentrate on strengthening the party at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the party had already wasted too much time on internal conflicts, warning that failure to initiate the poll campaign promptly would put the BJP at a disadvantage against the ruling BRS party, which has already announced its candidates and begun campaigning.

Eatala Rajender’s challenges have been compounded by his alleged lack of support from the BJP central leadership, which has hindered his ability to make independent decisions regarding the election campaign. Even long-standing party members have reportedly obstructed his efforts and prevented him from organizing programs. Eatala, who also leads the party’s joining committee, has faced criticism for his inability to persuade senior leaders from rival parties to join the BJP.

Many BJP leaders and officials in the state believe that replacing Bandi Sanjay with Kishan Reddy as the party’s president has not yielded positive results, and the ongoing feud between leaders continues to sow unrest among the party’s rank and file.
