The leopard killed a calf in an agricultural field, leading to warnings from forest officials for farmers to avoid venturing alone into fields and forests, especially at night. Medak, August,27,2023: Apprehension swept through the farming community in Chetla Thimmaipally village, located in the Masaipet mandal of Medak district, due to a suspected leopard presence in the vicinity.

The unsettling incident unfolded when a leopard, believed to be responsible, claimed the life of a calf and consumed a portion of it within an agricultural expanse. The unfortunate event occurred on an agricultural plot owned by Maloth Krishna. His cattle were safely housed within a shed on the premises the previous Saturday. The discovery on Sunday morning revealed a grim scene—a calf had fallen victim to the leopard, and its partially devoured remains were strewn at the scene.

Upon making the disconcerting find, Krishna promptly contacted local forest officials, who sprang into action. In response to the alarming situation, forest authorities cautioned farmers against solitary ventures into their fields. A collective alert was issued to the agricultural community, urging them to exercise caution.

Given the village’s proximity to the forested area, authorities went a step further and advised farmers to refrain from nocturnal visits to their fields or the adjacent forested terrain. The potential danger posed by the leopard’s presence prompted these preventive measures.

The incident has caused a considerable stir among the local populace, drawing a substantial number of farmers to the site for support and discussions regarding the evolving situation.With heightened vigilance and precautionary advisories in place, the community is navigating this unusual and potentially hazardous encounter with the elusive predator.
