Hyderabad : – In a significant development, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner K Sreenivasa Reddy has approved the transfer of 85 personnel from Panjagutta Police Station, spanning Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Home Guards, and Constables. This move comes as part of a strategic restructuring initiative.

The staff reshuffle was officially announced on Wednesday, impacting a substantial portion of the police station’s workforce, which originally comprised 139 members. According to the orders, the transferred officers are directed to report to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters, Hyderabad.

Prominent among those affected by the transfer include N. Shiva Shanker, B. Harishwar Reddy, K. Bhavana, Mirza Lateef Baig, G. Cheluvaiah, Shaik Nagulmeera, Mohammed Yaseen Ali, N. Giridhar, L Vijayakanth, B. Kishan, and V.K. Naidu. These officers, known for their roles in maintaining law and order, are now set to serve in different capacities within the police force.

Simultaneously, replacements have been assigned from various police stations across the city to fill the vacated positions at Panjagutta Police Station. This infusion of fresh personnel aims to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of services.

The jurisdiction of Panjagutta Police Station covers five sectors, encompassing central locations in Hyderabad such as Praja Bhavan, Begumpet, Ameerpet, Kundanbagh, RBI Quarters, Journalist colony, Nagarjuna Circle, Lal bungalow, Country club, and NIMS Hospital.

Notably, the recent shakeup follows the suspension of Station House Officer B. Durga Rao, who allegedly falsely implicated the driver of former Bodhan MLA Mohommad Shakil. The SHO is currently reported missing.

The Panjagutta Police Station has faced previous controversies, including the arrest of employees from Meridian Restaurant for beating a customer to death in September 2023. Subsequently, Punjagutta Sub Inspector Shiva Shanker and Head Constable Ramesh were suspended for allegedly neglecting the customer’s health condition, resulting in his demise.

In a rare occurrence, it is worth mentioning that this mass transfer involving 85 personnel from a single police station is unprecedented, marking a notable event in the history of the Hyderabad police force.
